After taking over New York City's Metropolitan Museum in the Spring of 2017, Comme des Garçons gained international notoriety and reached an audience far more vast than ever before. Best known for its Spring/Summer 1997 “Lumps and Bumps” collection, its Fall/Winter 2005 “Broken Bride” collection and, more recently, its Spring/Summer 2017 “Paper Doll” collection, the brand itself is nothing short of an empire. Since 1973 nearly two dozen labels have spawned from the Comme des Garçons brand, from Homme Plus (its main menswear line), to SHIRT (its shirting-dominated collection), to Play (its casual collection denoted by a widely-recognized heart logo) and Tricot (a knitwear line for women designed by Tao Kurihara). Although Comme des Garçons is a brand seen frequently throughout the Grails feed on Heroine, the extensive history and sheer size of this fashion conglomerate allows for everyone to get a piece of the Comme des Garçons brand at any budget.
