When a celebrity teams up with a brand, the resulting apparel is often nothing more than a reflection of personal taste. But when a designer known for multitasking her way around the world partners with one of the biggest sportswear companies, the result truly places function over fashion.

Ambush, the streetwear brand pioneered by Korean-American talent Yoon Ahn and her husband Verbal, has partnered with Nike on a capsule collection that celebrates today’s “new lifestyle”.

Splitting her time between Tokyo and Paris and between working for her own brand and as Dior Homme’s jewelry designer means that Ahn favors comfortable and breathable clothes. "When you live a busy lifestyle, the last thing you want is to think about how your clothes are uncomfortable or not functional," she said in a statement.

That’s why her Nike collab is full of easy-to-wear pieces including a gold coat, a pale green reversible faux fur jacket with the traditional Nike swoosh on the back, and a reversible track jacket that features one silver foil side and fleece on the other. The rest of the apparel — a DRI-Fit Stretch bodysuit, crop top, and matching high-waisted pants — is designed to take you seamlessly from morning to night.

Ahn hasn’t forgotten the sneakerheads. Taking inspiration from her first ever pair, she chose to combine Nike’s Air Max 180 with elements of the Air Zoom Flight. The new comfort-first silhouette comes with a boot-like upper and secures with a black zip.

Three launch events are planned around the world. The December 3 celebration will take place in Paris, moving to Tokyo on December 5 and Shanghai on December 8. The apparel, however, will be available globally come December 6 but you’ll have to wait until spring 2019 for the drop of the Ambush Air Max 180.
