Pharrell Williams Lends a Hand to New adidas Sneaker
Pharrell Williams may be in the middle of a full-blown tour with N.E.R.D but that hasn’t stopped the multi-hyphenate from sharing his creative mind with adidas once again. Not satisfied with his super successful NMDs and Tennis Hus, the 45-year-old has reworked yet another sneaker silhouette. This time, it’s adidas’ Crazy BYW.
Inspired by the Crazy FYW that stormed basketball courts in the 90s, Williams’ version boasts that much-loved sock upper with the original wavy sole. While FYW stood for the brand’s Feet You Wear tech, the BYW means Boost You Wear and incorporates the comfortable Boost cushioning on the bottom.
The mid-top sneaker is set to be released in two colorways: Chalk Pink and Solar Pink. First teased by Williams on instagram back in April, the shoe is officially called Crazy BYW Ambition. Why? Because each sneaker features the word ‘ambition’ embroidered in either black or white.
One design is pink with white waves and the other is black with pink waves. Both colors include a Primeknit upper, subtle black laces and Williams’ famous equality print on the heel’s pull tab.
There’s no confirmed release date for these sneakers as of yet but they are expected to be available later this summer for $250.
With this, Balenciaga’s Speed Runners and Reebok’s Sock Run.r taking over the streets, it seems like the trend for sock sneakers won’t be going away any time soon.
