Raf Simons—the designer who garners a cult following wherever he goes—has been working with adidas since 2013, reinvigorating silhouettes like the simple Stan Smith into sought after sneakers.

But one design in particular is rising in popularity. No, it’s not the Ozweegos. It’s Simons’ Detroit Runner. Characterized by its canvas upper and futuristic chunky sole, the sneaker (which was first released in late 2017) has been reworked once again.

This time round, Simons has given it a metallic twist, adding a chrome-rendered midsole to the sleek sneaker. Six new colorways are set to be released at the end of the month with each fitting the designer’s signature muted aesthetic.

A subtle olive green upper meets a baby pink sole in one design while another features a gray top and burgundy bottom. The third stand-out option combines navy blue denim with a gray sole.

The final three play around with monochrome shades with a black-on-black, white-on-white, and black-on-white all making an appearance. Matching laces and a barely there RS logo make up the finishing touches.

The original Detroit Runners retailed for $555 but there has been no word on whether the metallic version will cost more. All six will be available online at adidas.com and from select retailers on August 30.

And if you’re a fan of the shiny silver look, keep an eye out for Simons’ chromatic Ozweegos which debuted at the designer’s SS19 show.
