Kanye West’s latest collaborative effort is set to launch this Saturday. Yeezy x 2XU is a partnership between West and the Australian sportswear company.

Details of the full collection haven’t yet been released but it will include $400 scuba shorts and $450 neoprene tights. Both come in black, feature 2XU branding and have been spotted on Kim Kardashian in recent months.

2XU has been working with Yeezy for the past couple of seasons. Renowned for its fabric engineering, the performance wear brand lent its skills to West’s Season 5 collection, creating wetsuits, vests and tights. The company has worked closely with Ye ever since.

People may be reluctant to buy into Yeezy after West’s latest incendiary comments. After confessing his love for Donald Trump, he appeared in a live TMZ interview on Monday, likening 400 years of slavery to a “choice”. The rapper-cum-designer was swiftly shut down by a TMZ employee but appears to have lost a lot of respect from his fans.

A petition calling for adidas to drop West has been signed by over 5,000 people. The athletic brand’s CEO, Kasper Rorsted, today described West as “a fantastic creator”, telling a room full of journalists: “It is clear there are some remarks we don’t support. We are very committed to the Yeezy brand moving forward.”

Strangely, the demand for Yeezy sneakers appears to have gone up. After West’s first Trump-related remarks, GQ reported that the number of Yeezy offers on Grailed had increased by 15% with overall interest shooting up by 40%.

With a Twitter user convincingly arguing that West’s antics may be nothing more than an elaborate piece of performance art, we’ll have to wait and see if this weekend’s drop will sell out in a flash or fall flat on its face.

Yeezy Season 6 x 2XU will be available from 9am on Saturday at Los Angeles’ Westfield Century City store and online. A further collection will be released this fall as part of Yeezy Season 7.
